Washington Farms

Back in October, Saturday the 25th to be exact, we went on a family outing to Washington Farms in Watkinsville. Its a huge farm with corn maze, petting zoo, hayride and pig races. It was a wonderful day!The weather was warm and luckily we had lots of water and wore light clothes. Henry bounced on a huge air pillow, we did the mini corn maze, munched on kettle corn and watched pigs race. Vivi did have a blow out and I forgot to bring diapers so Steve had to take her back to the car which I felt awful about but that was the only hiccup. And we managed to escape without any huge upsets. Success!

Henry's First Field Trip: Pumpkin Patch

Henry's Pre-K class had a field trip way back in October and I was able to go. I couldn't believe they had a trip so early in the year. Taking a bus of 4 year olds out and about is not my idea of fun. Overall it was a great time. Henry's teachers really impressed me with their organization and ability to keep their class in line. There were two other classes of Pre-K kids and his class was by far the most obedient. Boundaries and limits were really clearly stated and the kids listened! I need to seriously up my game at home to get Henry to listen. :)
The kids went from storytime, to hayride and then to the patch where they each got to pick a pumpkin to take home and they took a class picture too. After the patch, we went to a nearby park, played and had lunch. I brought my camera but Vivi was crying a bit so I didn't get to take a lot of action shots. Vivi went on her first hayride and Henry was proud to have us both there. I love that he isn't embarrassed of me yet!

What Henry is into these days according to the huge pile of papers on our kitchen table...

I'm overwhelmed by papers again which means its time to scan and save or recycle. I just love them all and want to remember these phases. But keeping stacks and stacks of low quality computer paper with a few scribbles just isn't feasible. Oh a scanning we will go...

He is all about drawing stars these days.
 Hand turkeys and stars
 American flag
Mommy and Henry holding hands on the earth
R2-D2 and C-3P0 from Angry Bird Star Wars
 Ewok on tree fort thing
He totally drew this polar bear from a how-to draw page in Ranger Rick and then colored him in all wacky.
 Numbers
Pac Man and Ghost in maze
Just some Halloween things. Bat, tomb, pumpkin, mummy and monster
 Letter to Santa
 Sight words
I have no idea but I love the candy corn man on the bottom left
More stars and people, possibly our family?
This one is a family of sea monsters and some star fish as dictated from his Pre-K teacher
 Sight words

 Love letter to Maya
Lego Man creations including Dr Octopus
 Sight Word mini worksheet
 Addition with stickers
 More sight word practice.
Pages and pages of hearts.

30X30 Challenge: day 20, day 21

Hello, vests!

So I am officially done with this challenge! I have one more post after this with a final outfit and then I have all my thoughts to jot down. Day 20 was one of favorite outfits. I feel like I could have kept going with such a limited wardrobe if I could repeat outfits. Maybe I need to reassess all those clothes I still have, do I need them? Do I even like them? Another cleaning out is in the works.

We are a bit behind here because colds and flu and 6 month shots have been running through the house. Also we've been having a lot of fun with Halloween, fall break and a lot of candy munching. So far this has been a great fall!

eaten: mounds brownies

I have had this recipe pinned for about two years. I love Mounds Bars! So yummy. Who doesn't love coconut? Well I was right that this was delicious but it was also very rich. If Steve and I had had to eat the whole pan it would have been bad. Good bad. But bad nonetheless. So I made it for our ward Trunk or Treat and I was able to snag a taste before the pan was emptied. I might have been eating the leftover corners at home straight from the pan...

We'll need to have a party so I can make them again.

Recipe and Picture from Katrina's Kitchen

PREP TIME: 30 min

These Mounds Brownies taste just like the candy bar. Start with a boxed brownie mix and end with a can of frosting, but the middle is totally homemade.

5 1/3 Cups shredded coconut
14oz Can sweetened condensed milk
1 ½ Cups powdered sugar
1 Can of chocolate frosting

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare brownies and let cool completely.
  2. In the bowl of your mixer combine coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and powdered sugar until all ingredients are incorporated.
  3. Spread coconut mixture over brownies.
  4. Place can of frosting in the microwave for 10 seconds (please be sure to remove foil liner and lid) until pourable.
  5. Pour frosting over the coconut mixture. Let cool and set up.

Phone Camera Catch Up #7

Vivian pooped all through her clothes and Steve's. Naked Baby!

Packing the heat. He was excited to find this at Goodwill.

Henry's school had a fall festival and we went. It wasn't very well planned but Henry didn't realize and had a good time. There was a cake walk, bowling, bean bag toss and other small games with cheap prizes.

It was National Talk Like A Pirate Day and we went for it. I picked up Henry from school and we headed over to the Sandy Creek Nature Center. They had some fun things set up. Above we have created a rock formation marking our "treasure."

We also make Vivian this pirate hat, did a treasure hunt through the forest and has a great time.

Steve helped me make pizza! He accidentally poured the new flour bag into the bin and covered our flour scoop. Someone had to get it out.
