The party was way fun and way better than just sitting at home like last year. We had all sorts of good food and played games like murder in the dark. Overall, it was so fun and the perfect way to spend halloween. If you want more pictures of the cool food Whitney made and the other costumes, click here.

Halloween, Saved by the Bell Style
So for Halloween, Steve and I got invited to this couples costume party at Whitney's house. After much deliberation we decided on Zack and Kelly from Saved By the Bell. Apart from hardly anyone at work recognizing me, I think they turned out great.
Yes, we made this huge phone for Steve our of cardboard and tape.
Whitney as Scully from the X-files, Raggedy Anne (Lauryn) and me AKA Kelly.
Lauryn and Jonny as the Raggedys, Anne and Andy.

Shoes in the Monkey House
In Season 4 of Project Runway, one of the final contestants created a collection of clothing for Bryant Park that featured human hair. It was ugly. When Tim Gunn went to visit him and see the progress on his collection he was appalled by the hair. The contestant haughtily disagreed, stating that it was a dark beauty. Tim then related the following comparison: You know when you go to the zoo and you walk into the monkey house and you think "It stinks in here." After being in the monkey house for twenty minutes or so, you don't notice it as much. After being in the monkey house for an hour, you begin to think it doesn't smell bad at all. Then, brilliant Tim exclaims, "Chris, you've been living in the monkey house!"
Have I been living in the monkey house or are these shoes fab?

Lipgloss and other musings (without pictures)
If you have been following my blog at all, you would realize that I tend to go for a high picture to text ratio in my blog postings. Unfortunately of late, I have found this preference to be inhibiting when it comes to posting. I mean, if I want to share with the world my favorite new lip product I feel like I can't because I don't have a picture. I guess I could take it out of my purse and then photograph it, or apply it to my lips and then photograph that, OR I could take a picture of myself holding the product close to my face so you could see both product and results. All that is too exhausting to even think about because I don't think I could manage the self portrait and I'd have to get out the tri-pod because I seriously doubt that I would ask Steve to take a picture of me with my lip gloss. So here is to my new resolution: to write without pictures. Don't worry, there will still be lots of pictures but you might get some "just text" posts from me now. So don't freak out, I'm okay, the Rebel is okay, I'm just trying something new. And you can even not read them if it really bothers you.
So this brings me to the whole lipgloss thing...
I don't know about you but I am not usually a lipstick person. Like wearing polish on my fingernails, it just feels too fancy for everyday and since my life is far less dramatic and glamorous than I would probably like, I never wear lipstick. I'm a flavored chapstick, maybe a clear gloss girl.
For some reason recently, I have really wanted to give it a go. So I went in search of the perfect color and formula for me. Lip product is always touchy because if you buy it, try it, hate it, you can't return it. But I totally lucked out with this (insert link instead of picture) and I LOVE IT! Its Maybelline Super Stay lipcolor. It has a stain on one end and a glossy balm on the other. And the stain stays put but never looks cracked or flaky. My lips tend to flare up in hot pink when anything is applied to them so I needed something with some real saturation.I first got Heather and then got bold with Red. I'm a total believer now. Its a GREAT product
Side Note: Steve and I have been trying hard not to shop at Walmart, its our attempt at sticking it to the man. So I bought these lip gloss things at Target for a big fat $6.50 each. I know, I know... Last night I went in search of a cheap wig for Halloween-more on that later-so I went to walmart for the first time in over a month and since I was curious I checked out their lipgloss pricing. It was only $3.97! Its really hard to stick it to the man when they have such great prices.

Random-ness
Okay better pictures of the apartment all decked out halloween style. So Steve and I had a lot of fun with the spiders. After I did all the webbing, we started getting creative with this huge bag of fake spiders I got at Target. Steve is so funny because he always give me this look like "decorating, again? do I have to help?" and then he totally gets into it and is so funny and creative. What a great husband.
I did the hanging spider but it was his idea to spread them out around the apartment like on this poster. Actually sometimes I catch one out of the corner of my eye and it kind of freaks me out a bit. Not to mention the actual spiders I have come across lately, its like all their friends are out in the holiday spirit.

I got this pretty pitcher/vase thing from my grandpa this summer, it was my grandma's and I just love how it looks with this festive bouquet of berries and leaves. Yes, it is in the bathroom.
View of the apartment looking in. Sign on the front door that when it is windy bangs against the door in an eerie (annoying) way. If you click on this picture and enlarge it, you can see all the way across our apartment to the very back corner. How tiny!

This is the coolest thing about having a black wall, it totally lends itself to halloween-I wonder if christmas is going to look weird this year. I especially love the white skeleton, thanks mom! and the ghost candy bowl which of course we keep well stocked.
Now onto the random part of the blog, more because I just think it is cool but also kind of gross. So about a month ago I sliced my finger and nail on a rotary blade while cutting out pillow covers (oh, how I suffer for my craft...) and Steve totally stopped the bleeding and bandaged me up. Anyway, look how the nail has grown since the accident and the cut on the nail has grown further from the original scaring. The original cut is the redder part of my skin but look where the cut on the nail is now. Okay I know this sounds gross but look at how cool it is that it has moved!
Whatever, have a great day

Project Runway Finale Tomorrow
So as you probably know I am obsessed with Project Runway. I love it. And I love Leanne. She is delicious. Her designs are both modern and structured and quirky. I just think her talent is amazing and construction flawless. Take for example last week's wedding dress and bridesmaid's dress inspired by waves. So beautiful. I am so happy she is going to Bryant Park. Now she just has to win.

And thank heavens for TiVo because I was asked to take the youth to the David Archeletta corn maze on wednesday night!
