Henry: Random Update

Whenever I am taking pictures of pillows or tutorials, Henry insists on also being photographed. I guess it is my fault since I was constantly taking pictures of him when he was little. He's still little what am I talking about.
Cardboard Box = best toy ever!

Things Henry Likes These Days:
-dancing to Diego songs
-sticking out his tongue and touching it with his fingers
-songs from storytime especially "shake your sillys out" and "funny fat frog"
-crawling while holding items in each hand
-walking a few unsteady steps with a big smile on his face
-bringing me books so I will read them to him
-crying whenever I leave him somewhere, the "mommy" phase has started
-taking things out of boxes and then putting them back in, empty kleenex box = second best toy ever
-chewing on the rubber wii remote cover
-splashing his hand in the toilet and then having his hand washed in the bathroom sink
-when Steve pretends to drink from his bottle and says "da-da's bottle"

Things He Doesn't Like:
-lettuce
-us thwarting his evil plans for destruction

Friday Flowers

So today is Friday. The last day of school before spring break. I am very excited to have my husband for one whole week!
Melinda requested to see the flowers. So here are the flowers. I made all these flowers, I know I'm insane. But when you're planning a relief society meeting and your decor budget is $0 and your theme is rustic spring and you have to make the gym feel not so cavernous, it just kind of happens. This is how I plan to use them in our living room. The rest will be given away to brighten other homes because as possesive as I am, not even I need 75 flower stems.Tutorial to come! Not now though because I am not showering until I complete 4 loads of laundry and tackle all the house work I so happily cast aside on a normal day.

La Jefe

No, I am not announcing anything except that I made this awesome onesie for a friend's baby shower and my camera battery is dead so I am using the computer. Because who is the boss? The new baby. I also made this coupon for two homemade pizzas: post baby eats.
Oh and notice anything different about the background? Well its not the messy nursery anymore. Its the living room. In a fit of brilliance I moved our computer desk out of Henry's room to make it more accessible during crucial sleeping times. Productivity here we come. And by productivity I don't mean wasting time in blogland. I mean actually working and maybe scrapbooking a little.

P.S. I need a haircut.

Late Night Laughing

As a fairly new parent myself, I don't really have a lot of advice to give soon to be parents. One thing I do know for sure is to make sure you keep your camera and video camera easily accessible. We keep the video camera in the entertainment center so just in case something happens, we can quickly record it. How often would you use a camera that was packed away in its bag buried in the coat closet? Exactly.

The best time to capture cute Henry-ness is right before bedtime. Sometimes the simplest things really get him going.

Monday Monday

So I haven't been blogging as much because (like I need to make excuses, this is my blog!) this Thursday is the relief society birthday celebration and among other things I have been creating over 75 cherry blossom branches, kicking butt with Jillian Michaels, trying to stay on top of my etsy shop which I can happily say is thriving and spending time with Steve while watching all our favorite shows.

Creating balance in life is going to be my new goal. To Do Lists Here I Come!

Simplifying life is my second goal. Case in point: This week we are eating simple foods that become leftovers easily. Pizza and Lasagna-italy rocks my menu making skills. I have ordered 1000 pieces of cardboard instead of finding it and cutting it myself. More on that later.

Oh and with all this comes excitement in Spring Break next week, we never got one at BYU, and the launching of a new shop.

Quilt Project #11

So I went back over my blog and tried to count how many quilts I had donated. I think this will be Numero 11.

At the R.S. quilting night, they had tables of fabric that people had donated to make quilts with. After a quick scan, it was apparent that most of the fabric was too ugly for me to work with. I'm talking cheap 90's prints with metallic detailing. Yuck. But I managed to find a few prints I thought could work together. I love mixing prints. Plaids, florals and dots? Bring it on. I also wanted to try my hand at a zigzag pattern. And what better way to learn than on a quilt you'll be giving away. I used this tutorial and I think it turned out cute. I mixed and matched the zigzags to make some diamonds which I liked because it added interest. I actually love it and was sad to give it away.

P.S. Don't tell anyone but I used it a few times while watching tv at night.

Happy Birthday Little Mouse!

Each week at the library, the story time lady has the children try to find little mouse. There are seven rainbow colored houses taped to the wall that he might be hiding in. The children knock on the wall and sing "Knock, knock, knock. Knock, knock, knock. Little mouse, little mouse. Are you in the red house?" She then lifts the house and the children scream in excitement. Sometimes its little mouse, sometimes its cheese, sometimes its other animals.

Well last week it was little mouse's birthday and all the children wore party hats and sang happy birthday. Henry had no idea what was going on but he was one of the only children to keep his hat on the whole time. He prefers funny, fat frog to little mouse.

Did you notice his hair is getting curly?
